Law 34/2010 on the completion of art. 7 of Government Ordinance no. 26/2000 on associations and foundations

Romanian Parliament adopts this law

Article I
After par. (3) of Article 7 of Government Ordinance no. 26/2000 on associations and foundations, published in the Official Gazette, Part I, no. 39 of 31 January 2000, approved with amendments and completions by Law no. 246/2005, with subsequent amendments, two new paragraphs, (3^1) and (3^2) are introduced:

"(3^1) The phrases or words likely to cause confusion with the name of public authorities or institutions of national or local interest include in the name of the association such as "commissariat", "inspectorate", "guard", "academy", "authority", "council", "agency" or their derivatives.
(3^2) The registration of an association’s name using the words "national" or "Romanian" or their derivatives shall be made only with the Government’s General Secretariat prior consent. "

Article II.
Legally established associations and foundations at the date of entry into force of this law shall keep their names even in terms of art. 7 para. (3^1) and (3^2) of Government Ordinance no. 26/2000 on associations and foundations, approved with amendments and completions by Law no. 246/2005, with subsequent amendments, as well as supplemented by this law.

Article III
This law comes into force within 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette, Part I.


The Romanian Parliament adopted this law, in accordance to art. 75 and art. 76 para. (2) of the Romanian Constitution, republished.
