Internally displaced persons (IDPs)

Internal displacement is not an issue in the United States of America. However the US is a party to a number of international human instruments, such as the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, (1966), and International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, (1966), and would therefore be obliged to provide the necessary protection to internally displaced groups if this were to become an issue of concern in the future.
