Internally displaced persons (IDPs)

Internal displacement is not an issue in the Republic of Ireland. However as Ireland is a signatory to UN instruments such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), and International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), and also the European Convention on Human Rights (1950) sufficient legal safeguards are in place for the protection of the internally displaced should this ever become an issue in Ireland.
