Regulations on the State Duty Payable for Documenting Renunciation of the Citizenship of Latvia and Restoration of the Citizenship of Latvia
Issued in accordance with Part 2,
Article 10 of the Law "On Taxes and Duties"
1 These regulations shall determine the rate of the state duty for documenting renunciation of the citizenship of Latvia (further in the text - citizenship) and restoration of citizenship, the procedure of paying the state duty and allowances.
2. The rates of the state duty shall be as follows:
2.1 for documenting renunciation of citizenship - 15 Ls;
2.2. for documenting restoration of citizenship - 15 Ls.
3. Persons who want to restore citizenship having been lost due to legal error or illegitimate deprivation of citizenship shall be exempt from paying the state duty.
4. The rate of the state duty shall be 5 Ls for politically repressed persons, disabled persons having category I, orphans, children who are not under their parents’ charge and persons who are acknowledged as the poor in accordance with the law.
5. A person shall pay the state duty before the application on renunciation of citizenship or restoration of citizenship is submitted and shall receive a document (receipt) certifying the transaction.
6. A person shall pay the state duty in a bank or another credit institution.
7. The state duty shall be entered in the state basic budget.
